Who is eligible to drive?
Both Taxi operator work permit holders and Operation permit holders can drive with Ober. You’ll also need the proper driving licenses such as a commercial driving license (95) and to have completed a specific taxi driving course. Ober provides information and assistance with these processes.

How do I start driving?
If you have all the required permits, you only need contact Ober Team for signing the agreement and applying to the Icelandic Transport Authority. When the authorities have confirmed the registration. then you’ll be contacted by the Ober team to download the Ober Driver app and sign up. With instructions on how to proceed and register yourself or your car with Ober. Then you can begin driving with Ober.

Felt compelled to write about this company. My 4 sons were let down and had to book a taxi from the Airport to their accommodation same day, which I had to do as they were travelling. I googled multiple taxi companies in Reykjavik, and this company gave easily the best rates, so I gave them a go. They have a chat option on the website and talked me through my now urgent booking. The flight landed 2 hours late but Ober were tracking the flight and were there on time. I would 100% recommend this company if you require transport.
